Mark Stitz

WCPO

9 First Warning Meteorologist

Mark Stitz joined the 9 First Warning Weather Team in November 2025. He is thrilled to be back in his home state of Ohio. He grew up in Canton and graduated from The Ohio State University.

Most recently, Mark worked in Tornado Alley for eight years at our sister station in Omaha, Nebraska. He regularly led the team’s tornado coverage for multiple hours at a time, including during the Arbor Day tornado outbreak of 2024, when the area was hit by 24 tornadoes. One of the two that hit Omaha that day was rated EF-4.

He also worked in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after spending some time just south of the Tri-State in Lexington for two years.

Mark's first job on air was in San Angelo, Texas. While there, he earned the designation of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society. The AMS grants the CBM designation to broadcast meteorologists who meet established criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations.

Mark has visited Cincinnati numerous times over the years, but he is excited to also learn more about the rest of the Tri-State!
