WCPO 9 Gives is our commitment to go beyond reporting, get into communities and help make a difference together with you!

The Tri-State has a rich history of coming together to help those in need and this initiative expands our giving efforts to continue honoring that legacy of kindness, togetherness and support.

Here are ways WCPO 9 Gives helps the community and how you can get involved:

WCPO 9 Gives: FC Cincinnati Cleat Drive

All this month, WCPO 9 is teaming up with the Scripps Howard Fund and the FC Cincinnati Foundation to help outfit Tri-State kids who have a desire to play soccer but find themselves sidelined by the cost of cleats and other equipment.

DONATE NOW!

Last year, in addition to cleat donations, funds raised paid for more than 100 pairs of new cleats so that local youth in need to fulfill their dreams to play soccer.

This initiative is supported by the Scripps Howard Fund. Established by our parent company, the E.W. Scripps Company, the Scripps Howard Fund helps us raise vital funding for programs that provide essential services and opportunities for those in need in our community.

WCPO 9 Gives: If You Give A Child A Book
The Scripps Howard Fund and WCPO 9 believe giving children books can take them to new places, open their imaginations, fuel big dreams, plant seeds for future success and help break the cycle of poverty.

Many adults fondly remember the fun of being able to browse and buy books at the Scholastic Book Fair. But some of the students in the Tri-State can't afford the luxury of buying a new book.

The "If You Give a Child a Book" campaign raises funds each year to help those children receive 10 free books through the book fair.

Last year, a total of move than $200,000 was donated to the cause in a collaboration with the E.W. Scripps Company, the Scripps Howard Fund and employee contributions.

WCPO 9 was able to finance 30,000 books for students at seven different Title I schools across the Tri-State area, fostering literacy and opportunity for the next generation.

WCPO 9 Gives: Toy Team 9
WCPO 9’s Toy Team 9 annually gives needy children in the Cincinnati area toys. WCPO 9 collaborates with the Scripps Howard Fund, and nine Walmart locations accepting toy donations for various charitable organizations in the community.

During the drive, our anchors and reporters broadcast live from Walmart stores to encourage donations. In 2025, we successfully collected more than 10,000 toys for local children, along with over $16,000 in donations from the community, Walmart, WCPO 9 and the Scripps Howard Fund.

Hope to Dream

WCPO 9 sponsors the annual Hope to Dream event, which provides children in need with a twin mattress, bed frame, bedding and a pillow. This initiative involves collaboration with St. Vincent De Paul, Morris Furniture Company, Chick-fil-A, General Electric Credit Union, the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund, dedicated volunteers, and The Mighty Men from Crossroads Church.

Last year, the Hope to Dream telethon raised $36,655, enough to provide 209 beds for children.

People Working Cooperatively

WCPO 9 collaborates with People Working Cooperatively each year for an annual "Ramp It Up" campaign on Veterans Day, aimed at raising funds to assist low-income and disabled veterans throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky with home repairs and building ramps for veterans who need them.

Last year's telethon raised $44,000, and with matching contributions from The Farmer Family Foundation, the WCPO 9 telethon raised a total of $88,000.

Madi’s House

WCPO 9 is dedicated to supporting people struggling with addiction and recovery through the annual fundraiser for Madi’s House. WCPO 9 Chief Meteorologist Steve Raleigh and his wife, Julie, created Madi's House in memory of their daughter. It provides a safe and supportive space for people in recovery.

Each year, WCPO 9 hosts a telethon to raise funds for Madi’s House. Last year, the telethon successfully raised a grand total of $187,813.

Shred Day with Crimestoppers

WCPO 9 helps protect the Tri-State from identity thieves by shredding sensitive documents and helping to dispose unwanted prescription drugs during an annual Shred Day. During the event, thousands of pounds of sensitive documents were shredded and unwanted medication was safely disposed of to protect people in our community.

Shred Day is a collaboration with Furniture Fair, the Scripps Howard Fund, CrimeStoppers, Walgreens, Shred-It and Royal Document Destruction, along with Cincinnati Police and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

The funds collected from Shred Day help fund rewards CrimeStoppers offers for information that helps authorities catch criminals.
