WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Warren Easton Charter School (New Orleans) 2022 cornerback Jyaire Brown announced Tuesday night he plans to attend Lakota West High School for the next two years.

Brown, who is verbally committed to Ohio State, is rated the nation's No. 16 cornerback in the 2022 class by 247 Sports.

Lakota West coach Tom Bolden confirmed the family is moving to Ohio. Brown is expected to join the Firebirds at the end of June, according to Bolden.

"I anticipate he will gain his eligibility under Exception 1 (of the transfer bylaw)," Lakota West athletic director Scott Kaufman said.

Brown, who helped lead Warren Easton to a Louisiana 4A state runner-up finish in 2019, is already rated Ohio's No. 3 player overall in the 2022 class by 247 Sports. Lakota West offensive tackle Tegra Tshabola (Ohio State verbal commit) is No. 2.

Brown, who is 6 feet and 180 pounds, is the younger brother of former Colerain standout defensive back/running back Lonnell Brown. Bolden coached the four-year letterwinner at Colerain. Brown was a first-team all-Greater Miami Conference selection as a defensive back his senior season.

Lakota West, a Division I program, plays host to La Salle in Week 1 of the 2020 season. La Salle is the reigning Division II state champion. It is the second game of a home-and-home agreement between Lakota West and La Salle that was agreed upon in September 2018.
