CINCINNATI — Two Cincinnati police officers were assaulted as they tried to break up a large crowd that formed early Sunday morning in Cincinnati's Corryville neighborhood, Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police President Ken Kober told WCPO.
One officer was treated at the scene, while another was taken to the hospital as a result of the incident, according to Kober. Both are currently recovering at home.
"They're dealing with just this disorderly crowd of approximately 2,000 people in the Coryville area just creating disorder. They go to attempt to break this up and they get blindsided," Kober said.

Kober told WCPO that one arrest has been made, but suggested more arrests could be expected.
Kober detailed video taken of the incident, which he says shows one officer being held on the ground and kicked before the officer got up and chased after those who were assaulting him.
"He did what he was able to do, which is protect himself, and as you see as the assault ends, they immediately get up and start pursuing the attacker, which is exactly what we would expect of our officers," Kober said.
Cincinnati police sent the following statement to WCPO in response to this incident:
"The Cincinnati Police Department is aware of a video circulating on social media involving officers being assaulted. We are looking into the details of what occurred. Our focus remains on the safety and well-being of our officers and the community," the statement reads.
