CINCINNATI — Correction: A previous version of this story erroneously stated that the suspect was arrested in connection with a 2021 shooting. It has since been updated to reflect the accurate information.

A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a September shooting on Short Vine Street in Corryville, the Cincinnati Police Department said.

Police said that 25-year-old Willie Russ has been charged with felonious assault and burglary for the Sept. 11 shooting.

On Sept. 11, officers responded shortly before 1 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of Short Vine Street, which is near the University of Cincinnati.

Police said on shot was fired, and a man was shot in the stomach. The man was transported to UC Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after police responded to the shooting, a UC Public Safety alert was issued, telling students in the area to stay at their location if safe.

A second alert was posted shortly after, issuing an "ALL CLEAR" for UC students. The second alert also said the suspect fled the scene.

The area of Short Vine Street between Corry and W. Carlton streets was blocked off while police investigated.
