OHSAA announces state tournament venues for spring sports season

CINCINNATI — The Ohio High School Athletic Association on Thursday morning announced most state tournament venues for the spring sports season.

At least three state venues will remain the same as 2019. The 2020 spring sports season was canceledduring the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state boys tennis tournament is scheduled to return to the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason May 28-29.

The state softball tournament is scheduled to return to Akron's Firestone Stadium June 3-5.

The OHSAA board of directors also approved baseball tournament regulations that include the state tournament returning to Canal Park in Akron June 10-12.

The state track and field meet is scheduled to be hosted by three high schools in Central Ohio.

Division I is scheduled to be at Hilliard Darby, Division II at Pickerington North and Division III at Westerville North.

The OHSAA has not announced the location for the state boys and girls lacrosse tournaments.

The state spring sports events are scheduled to return after the 2020 spring sports season was canceled when school buildings remained closed in April 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Official OHSAA spring practice starts Feb. 22 for baseball, lacrosse, softball and track and field. Boys tennis practice starts March 8.

The OHSAA is also expected to announce the regional tournament locations for boys and girls basketball on Thursday. The state tournament venues have not been announced.
