CARY, N.C. - Danni Konig became FC Cincinnati’s all-time leading goal scorer and the Orange and Blue rebounded from their U.S. Open Cup ouster by regaining first place Saturday night.

Konig headed home a rebound in the 37th minute, Jimmy McLaughlin rebounded an insurance goal in the 87th minute and Evan Newton had five saves in a 2-0 win over North Carolina FC.

It was Konig’s club-leading sixth goal of the season and 17th in two years with FC Cincinnati, one more than Djibi Fall and Sean Okoli had in their single seasons here.

FC Cincinnati (8-2-3 in the United Soccer League) moved three points ahead of second-place Louisville FC in the Eastern Conference standings, though Louisville has played two fewer matches. Louisville tied 0-0 with Bethlehem Steel FC.

FC Cincinnati is 6-1-1 on the road.

Emmanuel Ledesma, the team's second-leading goal scorer with five, got his fifth yellow card and will be suspended for the next game Wednesday against Bethlehem Steel (5-3-5) at Nippert Stadium.
