CINCINNATI — Despite a 4-1 season-opening loss against the Seattle Sounders, FC Cincinnati expects a sellout crowd at Nippert Stadium Sunday for its home debut as a Major League Soccer team.

The Orange and Blue will host the Portland Timbers, who were MLS cup finalists in December 2018.

According to a Wednesday afternoon news release, more than 30,000 tickets had already been sold for the 32,250-seat venue. Team officials expected the rest to sell before Sunday.

“All fans are also strongly advised to plan accordingly for a capacity crowd and arrive and park as early as possible,” according to the news release.

University of Cincinnati parking garages will begin accepting game parking at noon. Nippert Stadium gates will open at 3:30 p.m.
