CINCINNATI — A 40-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a murder in Evanston, according to Hamilton County court records.
Hamilton County court records show that Andre Michael Redmond was charged with murder for a death that occurred in the 1800 block of Hewitt Avenue.
Cincinnati police told us officers responded to Hewitt Avenue just before 3 p.m. Tuesday for a person found dead. Our crew at the scene saw the coroner arrive.
Police said officers dispatched to the scene found 36-year-old LaKeisha Malone "suffering from injury."
At the scene, CPD told us it was a "suspicious death" investigation being handled by the Homicide Unit.
According to court documents, Redmond allegedly caused the death of Malone by blunt force trauma from a "homemade wooden club."
In court on Wednesday, prosecutors said they were told by detectives that Malone had been in bed, possibly sleeping, when she was allegedly attacked.
The prosecutor said one of the detectives on the case described the scene on Hewitt Avenue as "one of the bloodies scenes that he has been at."
Prosecutors also said that there were children in the home when Redmond is accused of attacking Malone with a piece of wood that had been fashioned as a club.
He is currently being held at the Hamilton County jail on a $2 million bond.
