GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Oak Hills High School has canceled this weekend's varsity and junior varsity football games against Lakota West after being notified of a positive case of COVID-19 and several quarantines for close contact among student-athletes, according to Oak Hills athletic director Ben Hageman.

Oak Hills expects to resume football activities on Sept. 28 for student-athletes who were not part of contact tracing and are symptom-free, Hageman said.

The information was shared with Oak Hills High School families and staff members Thursday morning.

Lakota West (4-0, 4-0 Greater Miami Conference) had been scheduled to host Oak Hills (0-4, 0-4 GMC) at 7 p.m. Friday. Lakota West and Oak Hills are Division I programs.

Lakota West athletic director Scott Kaufman said the Firebirds are exploring opportunities for another possible opponent this weekend.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association said Thursday afternoon there are 64 Division I football teams entered in the postseason tournament. All teams will play Week 7 (Oct. 9) if each region remains at 16 teams, per the OHSAA. The D-I state final in this scenario will be Nov. 13.
