CINCINNATI — After a full 24 hours of speculation and secondhand reports, the Bengals confirmed Wednesday morning that running back Joe Mixon had committed to a four-year contract extension lasting until 2024.

“We are excited that we got this done with Joe,” said Bengals head coach Zac Taylor in a news release. “He has been a valuable weapon for our offense and team. Joe provides great energy not only on the field but in the building as well, and we are ready to move forward as we prepare for the Chargers.”

The team did not confirm the value of the deal, but other sports outlets reported it could be as much as $48 million.
