Bengals name six more coaches, complete staff

CINCINNATI — The Bengals completed their new coaching staff (see below) by announcing the hiring of the final six assistants on Thursday.

The latest hires include Nick Eason (defensive line), Tem Lukabu (linebackers), Brad Kragthorpe (offensive assistant), Jordan Kovacs (defensive quality control), Todd Hunt (assistant strength and conditioning) and Garrett Swanson (assistant strength and conditioning).

Eason, 38, played 10 years in the NFL and has five seasons of NFL coaching experience. He was an assistant coach with Titans from 2014-17 and began his coaching career as an intern coach with the Browns in 2013. He was recently hired as Vanderbilt University's defensive line coach. Eason played defensive end with the Broncos (’03), Browns (’04-06), Steelers (’07-10) and the Cardinals (’11-12).

Lukabu, 37, joins the Bengals from Mississippi State University, where he spent the 2018 season as linebackers coach. He has four years of NFL coaching experience with the 49ers (defensive quality control coach, 2016-17) and Buccaneers (defensive assistant, ’12-13) and seven years college experience, including Florida International (linebackers, ’15), Colgate (outside linebackers, ’14), Rutgers(outside linebackers, ’10-11) and Rhode Island (linebackers, ’08-09).

Kragthorpe, 26, was an offensive coaching analyst at Louisiana State in 2018 and an offensive graduate assistant coach at Utah State ('16-17). Kragthorpe played quarterback at both LSU (2012-15) and Idaho State (’11).

Kovacs, 28, spent the last two seasons (2017-18) as a graduate assistant at the University of Michigan. He played safety with the Dolphins ('13-15).

Hunt, 27, was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Illinois in 2018. Previously, he was a defensive graduate assistant coach at Fresno State ('16-17.)

Swanson, 24, was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Illinois from 2017-18.
