CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati opens its 2018 run in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a May 16 match at Gettler Stadium on the University of Cincinnati campus, the club announced Thursday.

The Orange and Blue, who made an exciting advance to the Cup semifinals last year, will host the winner of the first-round match between Detroit City FC (National Premier Soccer League) and Michigan Bucks (Premier Development League) at 7:30 p.m. in second-round action.

Tickets will be first available to 2018 FC Cincinnati season ticket members, according to the club's announcement. Other details are still being finalized.

FC Cincinnati will be part of the northeast region and one of 22 United Soccer League teams to participate in U.S. Soccer's national championship. USL teams get a first-round bye.

Home teams for each round are determined by a random selection process among those clubs that have applied to host and whose venues meet the minimum tournament requirements.
