CINCINNATI — FC Cincinnati added four players in Thursday's Major League Soccer SuperDraft, including Wake Forest forward Calvin Harris with the No. 2 overall pick.

Harris, a Middlesbrough, England native, scored 10 goals and had five assists in his two years with the Demon Deacons, and he was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team after the 2019 season. Before that, he made six appearances in the 2018-19 New Zealand Premiership season with the Wellington Phoenix reserves.

FC Cincinnati also selected South Florida defender Avionne Flanagan with the No. 29 pick, Dayton midfielder Jonas Fjeldberg with the No. 54 pick and Hofstra forward Matthew Vowinkel at No. 56. The club had acquired an additional second-round selection from Columbus Crew SC in exchange for midfielder Fatai Alashe on Aug. 17.

Austin FC, the league's newest franchise, selected Virginia Tech midfielder Daniel Pereira with the top pick in the SuperDraft. Clemson midfielder Philip Mayaka went No. 3 to Colorado. DC United took Clemson forward Kimarni Smith and Wake Forest defender Michael DeShields with the fourth and fifth overall picks after a trade with Atlanta United.

MLS expects to start the 2021 season in early to mid-March.
