CINCINNATI -  The polls show that college basketball coaches and writers disagree on how good the Cincinnati Bearcats and Xavier Musketeers are going into the NCAA Tournament.

Both teams lost ground in the USA Today coaches poll this week with Xavier dropping from No. 2 to No. 4 and UC dropping from No. 8 to No. 10.

The coaches raised Kansas from ninth to third and North Carolina from 11th to ninth.

Meanwhile, UC (30-4) climbed two places to No. 6 in the final weekly Associated Press writers poll after winning the American Athletic Conference tournament over the weekend.

Xavier (28-5) held onto its No. 3 AP ranking despite losing to Providence in the Big East Conference tournament quarterfinals.

The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee agrees with the writers over the coaches. They made Xavier a No. 1 seed and UC a No. 2.

Both teams held their ground in the NCAA Rating Percentage Index with Xavier at No. 3 and Cincinnati at No. 6.
