CINCINNATI – The way it’s turning out, Opening Day 2018 is going to be a three-day event.

Some Reds fans, like John Neggie and Lauren Cooper, came down to The Banks on Thursday and celebrated Opening Day even without a game.

"I scheduled a half day off to attend, so I'm not at work and I'm cool with that even though it's raining,” said Neggie.

Neggie said he’ll be at the game Friday.

“Tomorrow is going to be fabulous,” he said.

Cooper’s group planned to attend Thursday’s opener but not all of them will be able to make the rescheduled game Friday.

"Some of us will, some of us won't, so we all wanted to be a group and since we were all able to do today we decided to come down today as a group," Cooper said.

The Findlay Market Parade isn’t until Monday. That's the way it was originally scheduled because Findlay Market merchants said they couldn't afford to close their shops on the Thursday before Easter Sunday.

The Reds said they were selling  a “limited number” of tickets for Friday’s game at Reds.com. They were tickets returned by unhappy fans who won’t be able to attend Friday.

If you can't make it Friday, you can exchange your tickets for any future home game this season.

Some standing-room tickets for Friday's opener were also on sale.

All the Opening Day events and activities scheduled for Thursday will go on as planned on Friday:

  • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Reds Community Fund Charity Block Party
  • 2:10 p.m.: Gates to Great American Ball Park open
  • 3:30 p.m.: Pregame Ceremonies begin
  • 4:10 p.m.: 142nd Opening Day game – Cincinnati Reds vs. Washington Nationals
