CINCINNATI - Starting Monday, eligible gameday employees for the Cincinnati Reds can apply for the team's $1 million COVID-19 relief fund announced last month.

Team officials say the Reds Gameday Staff COVID-19 Relief Fund provides "short-term assistance to help bridge the financial gap by supporting gameday staff experiencing significant financial hardship as a result of COVID-19."

Those eligible for the fund include 2019 gameday staff employed by the Reds and rehired for the 2020 season and staff from facilities service provider SBM who have been identified as eligible by SBM.

Eligible participants are being notified and can apply through May 31.

An independent, third-party public charity, E4E Relief, will manage the application process and distribute the funds.

Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer also organized a GoFundMe campaign on March 14, which has raised an additional $25,721 to date. Officials say that will be rolled into the COVID-19 Relief Fund.

The team joins efforts by the 29 other MLB teams each contributing $1 million for similar support funds.
