In a series of tweets Monday evening, Major League Baseball announced Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer as one of three finalists for the National League Cy Young Award.
Two awards are given annually to the best pitchers in the National and American leagues voted by the Baseball Writer’s Association of America.
Bauer Joins Yu Darvish from the Cubs and Jacob deGrom from The Mets. American League finalists include Shane Bieber from the Indians, Kenta Maeda from the Twins and Hyun-Jin Ryu from the Blue Jays.
Since the award was introduced in 1956, no player from the Cincinnati Reds has ever won the award.
