SPRINGDALE, Ohio — A Springdale police officer and two other people were sent to the hospital after a driver collided with a cruiser during a traffic stop.
According to a news release from Springdale Police, an officer was investigating a crash on E. Crescentville Road near Tivoli lane around 3:00 a.m. Thursday when a car traveling west on Crescentville struck the police cruiser from behind.
The officer and the person involved in the initial crash investigation were in the cruiser during the crash, according to Springdale Police. The officer was transported to a local hospital, treated and released. The passenger in the police cruiser remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car that struck the cruiser was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ohio State Highway Patrol has shut down E. Crescentville Road between SR 747 and Chesterdale Road to investigate the crash.
