NORWOOD, Ohio – While police body cameras are still being debated in some circles, they have proved a useful tool for both officer accountability and protecting officers from false claims.

The Norwood Police Department is also using their body cam footage to drum up some positive publicity. One body cam video the department shared this week features Sgt. Phil Cintron coming face to snout with a potbellied pig.

“I don’t know the first thing about dealing with a pig, to be honest with you,” he said int he recording.

It was a cool spring night when the pig was spotted blocking traffic on Williams Avenue.

Cintron found the pig on the front porch of a home. Despite lacking experience with pigs, he was able to lead the animal into the backyard.

Lt. Ron Murphy said police were sharing the videos to show officers in a positive light.

Not all the videos are funny or cute. One shows an officer sprinting after a suspect and taking him down.

“We’re just trying to control our own message and show people the good we’re doing,” Murphy said.
