WCPO 9 Gives is our commitment to go beyond reporting, get into communities and help make a difference together with you!

Tri-State has a rich history of coming together to help those in need and this initiative will expand our giving efforts to continue honoring that legacy of kindness, togetherness and support.

Here you will find the stories of people in the Tri-State and it's easier than ever to help with a cash donation through WCPO 9 Gives.

Community Outreach

If You Give A Child A Book
The Scripps Howard Fund and WCPO 9 believe giving children books can take them to new places, open their imaginations, fuel big dreams, plant seeds for future success and help break the cycle of poverty.

The “If You Give A Child A Book” campaign raises funds to help area children receive ten free books through the Scholastic Book Fair.

During the 2024-2025 academic year, Scripps and WCPO 9 donated more than 22,000 books to more than 2,200 students across seven different Title I schools across the Tri-State.

Hope to Dream

WCPO 9 sponsors the annual Hope to Dream event, which provides children in need with a twin mattress, bed frame, bedding and a pillow. This initiative involves collaboration with St. Vincent De Paul, Morris Furniture Company, Chick-fil-A, General Electric Credit Union, the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund, dedicated volunteers, and The Mighty Men from Crossroads Church. Last year $36,655 was raised during the Hope to Dream telethon. The funds raised will be used to provide 209 beds for children in the future.

Toy Team 9

WCPO 9’s Toy Team 9 annually gives needy children in the Cincinnati area toys. WCPO 9 collaborates with the Scripps Howard Fund, and nine Walmart locations accepting toy donations for various charitable organizations in the community.

During the drive, our anchors and reporters broadcast live from Walmart stores to encourage donations. Last year, we successfully collected over 6,000 toys for local children, along with over $9,000 in contributions from Walmart, WCPO 9, and the Scripps Howard Fund.

Shred Day with Crimestoppers
WCPO 9 helps protect the Tri-State from identity thieves by shredding sensitive documents and helping to dispose unwanted prescription drugs during an annual Shred Day. Thousands of pounds of sensitive documents and medication were shredded to protect people in our community. Shred Day is a collaboration with Furniture Fair, Scripps Howard Fund, CrimeStoppers, Walgreens, Shred-It and Royal Document Destruction. The funds collected from Shred Day are used by CrimeStoppers as rewards to catch criminals.

People Working Cooperatively

WCPO 9 collaborates with People Working Cooperatively (PWC) each year for an annual campaign on Veterans Day, aimed at raising funds to assist low-income and disabled veterans throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky with home repairs. Last year's telethon raised $44,000, and with matching contributions from The Farmer Family Foundation, a total of $88,000 was achieved during the WCPO 9 telethon.

Madi’s House

WCPO 9 is dedicated to supporting individuals struggling with addiction and recovery through the annual fundraiser for Madi’s House. Created by WCPO 9 Chief Meteorologist Steve Raleigh and his wife Julie in memory of their daughter, Madi’s House provides vital programming for those in need. Each year, WCPO 9 hosts a telethon to raise funds for Madi’s House. Last year, the telethon successfully raised a grand total of $187,813.
