Suspect indicted in Papa's Pub stabbing that killed one

FLORENCE, Ky. — A Taylor Mill, Ky. man has been indicted by a Boone County Grand Jury for the murder of 31-year-old Stephen Dodson in July.

According to a press release from Florence Police, 41-year-old Ishmail Tariq Powell was indicted Tuesday on charges of murder, attempted murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Dodson, of Jonesville, KY was stabbed to death inside Papa's Pub in Florence, KY during a large fight that broke out at the bar and restaurant, according to the Florence Police Department.

Florence Police said they were called to Papa's Pub on Main Street around 1:40 a.m. for reports of a large fight inside the bar. When they arrived, they found two people had been stabbed during the altercation, and one had been "struck multiple times in the face," according to police.

Dodson was pronounced dead at the scene; the other stabbing victim was transported to UCMC and has since recovered.
