GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A man stood in the road early Sunday, talking about "killing demons" and firing at least one shot into a neighbor's yard, according to a 911 call.
The suspect, 51-year-old Brendan MacDonald, later exchanged gunfire with officers, Green Township Police Chief James Vetter said.
A SWAT team spent hours in a standoff with MacDonald along Jessup Road, near Peachview Drive. They eventually got in through his back door and took him into custody shortly after noon.
He was taken to a hospital for evaluation, Vetter said.
"He pulled a gun out, shot it into my yard, pointed it at me and said, 'Maybe I'll start with you, kill you, you're a demon,'" the neighbor told a dispatcher.
MacDonald had a pistol, Vetter said. He ran back inside his home after he and officers shot at each other, Vetter said.
Police chief says the department is familiar w/ the man inside the home, but this is the most serious incident they've responded to. @WCPO

The neighbor said MacDonald takes medication for mental health issues.
"God, I'm scared," the neighbor said. "I've had guns pointed at me before, but man, not like that."
MacDonald faces charges of felonious assault and attempted murder.
The incident remains under investigation by the Green Township Police/Hamilton County Sheriff Joint Investigative Unit.
