Welcome to Fit and Fun!

WCPO editors Max Alter and Meghan Wesley love to work out. But, like anyone else, they get bored with the traditional gym workout. So they decided to start #fitandfun, an Instagram series where they will try different workouts throughout the area and take you along for the ride. They'll tell you the basics and give each workout a fun rating out of 10 every two weeks on Instagram. Follow along at @9OnYourSide and with the hashtag #fitandfun. Last time, we tried a Bounce class at Define Oakley. Read about it here.

This week: Ballet boot camp at The LB in Rookwood Exchange

Ballet Boot Camp was a mix of yoga and ballet while wearing Lucky Honey Grip Socks. No actual toe shoes were required (thank goodness because we probably would have killed ourselves).

The socks!

The day itself was a Morning of Fitness featuring the creator of the socks, Jennifer Murdock, and Emily Morgan, founder of The City Skinny, which hosts fit days in various workout spaces around Cincinnati. This one was on Sept. 29 at The LB in Rookwood Exchange and was quite the fancy event.

The catch

This isn’t a class that is offered on a regular basis at a specific gym, but Emily hosts The City Skinny Fit Days all around Cincinnati (and is expanding to other cities!). Find more info here.

The room at The LB all set up for the class

When can I try?

Another ballet boot camp is coming up at 8 a.m. Nov. 4 at The LB, so if you missed this one, be sure it check it out! Fit Days, which are daylong fitness retreats, are $150. Check the schedule here and RSVP here.

Cost

Nov. 4th’s ballet boot camp is $15. A typical Fit Day is $150. The City Skinny also hosts retreats that start at $500.

Was it fun?

Max and Meghan typically train in the weight room (neither have ever actually tried yoga), so this was very different. It was a mix of yoga and what we would call ballet moves, and it was a KILLER leg workout. It was also really fun. The music and environment at The LB made for a great workout. We gave it a seven out of 10 on the fun scale.

Max was super thrilled at Meghan for taking this photo
