The National Weather Service in Wilmington investigated a possible tornado from Sunday night but in the end, no tornado damage was found in Brown County.
Brown County along with a portion of Clinton County was under a tornado warning around 1 a.m. Monday. For just one radar scan, you can see the tight couplet near Fivemile just east of Route 68. A couplet indicates an area of rotation which could produce a tornado.
Despite the couplet on radar, no tornado touched down after extensive searching in the area for damage. The radar image above led the NWS to strongly believe a tornado had touched down, but it isn't official until damage is found in the field and that wasn't the case with this particular storm cell.
