RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana State Police suspect speed and alcohol were factors in a crash that killed a 36-year-old man Friday night, a spokesman said.
An initial investigation found Bret L. Brown, of Osgood, Indiana, was driving west on State Road 229 near County Road 200 West when he lost control in a curve, went off the road and hit several trees, ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said.
Brown's GMC Jimmy then caught fire. The Ripley County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene.
In addition to speed and alcohol, Wheeles said Brown wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
