CINCINNATI — All southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at the Norwood Lateral closed Friday night and were scheduled to close again Saturday night along the often crowded interstate corridor.

The full closures — part of the massive, 10-year Mill Creek Expressway overhaul project — began at 11 p.m. and lasted until 5 a.m. the next day, according to Ohio Department of Transportation officials.

Motorists were detoured to westbound Interstate 275 to eastbound Interstate 74 then back to southbound I-75. The ramp to the Norwood lateral in the eastbound direction remained open to traffic, officials said.

Arrow boards and signs were in place to alert motorists of the upcoming full closures.

The closures were meant to accommodate work being done on the railroad track overpass just south of the lateral.

ODOT officials asked drivers to remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone, to ensure construction workers’ safety.
