FAIRFIELD, Ohio -- Two people died over the weekend in separate collisions in Butler and Clermont counties.

Luke Minerd, 17, suffered multiple traumatic injuries in a single-car crash near Joyce Park, according to the Butler County Coroner's Office.

Witnesses said his vehicle hit a tree in the 200 block of Joe Nuxhall Way at about 2 p.m. Some of the gates to Joyce Park were closed while officials investigated, WCPO media partner the Journal-News reports.

Minerd's manner of death is still under investigation.

Fairfield police have released no additional information about the fatal crash, only saying the investigation is ongoing.

Then Sunday night, two vehicles hit James D. Higgins as he walked along Old State Route 32 near Curliss Lane in Batavia Township.

A medical helicopter took the 32-year-old Higgins to the University Of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
