MASON, Ohio — The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles experienced a statewide computer outage Wednesday morning.
The computer system went down shortly after 8:45 a.m. Many customers were in the middle of getting their paperwork processed when the announcement was made.
A BMV employee, who commented on condition of anonymity, told WCPO that this is unusual.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before," she said. "I’ve seen computers go down but when you can’t call the state that’s an issue. I hope everything is OK.”
BMV employees said they will restart their computers every five minutes but are afraid of overloading the system once it comes back up.
At 11:45 a.m., BMV systems were up and running again.
