Kentucky church treasurer accused of taking more than $50,000

DRY RIDGE, Ky. -- Kentucky State Police arrested a church treasurer Wednesday after she was accused of taking more than $50,000 from her church.

Dorothy Colleen Barth, 59, of Butler, Kentucky, was the treasurer of Trinity United Methodist Church in Augusta, Kentucky, according to Kentucky State Police.

Colleen was accused of taking the money between September 2015 and June 2016 after a lengthy investigation by Detective Jeremy Moore, police said.

She was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and was being held at the Mason County Detention Center.

The case remains under investigation.
