BATESVILLE, Ind. – A Tri-State park turned into a crime scene after a woman reported being sexually assaulted by two men.

The victim told police she was walking through Brum Woods in the evening when the two men, who were roughly 50 years-old and wore dark colored pants, long-sleeved shirts and ball caps, attacked her.

The attack has many in Batesville concerned and police asking for help tracking down those responsible for the attack.

The park is a popular walking spot for people like Marth Junker and her dog, Max.

“A lot of people exercise … it’s a great resource for the community,” Junker said of the park.

But news that the police department is investigating a sexual assault is top of mind for many women, both in and out of town. Kris Baumer lives across the street from the park. She says most of the time she walks with a friend, but not always.

“I always bring my phone, that’s just habit for me,” Baumer said.

While the attack has women on edge, it isn’t going to keep them away.

Police said they have stepped up patrols around the woods and continue to actively investigate the case. They asked that anyone with information call the Batesville Police Department.
