MONTEREY, Ky. — A crash Friday afternoon involving an ATV in Owen County, Kentucky, turned fatal, according to the Kentucky State Police.
Patricia Karsner, 73, was riding an ATV driven by Mario Chavez-Canela, 43, when the vehicle crashed on Old Landing Road in Monterey, Kentucky, around 4:30 p.m. Karsner was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital, but she was later pronounced dead.
According to the police, Chavez-Canela was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol when he crashed the ATV, and he was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and assault.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
