CINCINNATI -- As you're getting dressed Friday morning, pull out your favorite red clothes because it's the 14th annual National Wear Red Day.

The goal is more than a fashion statement. Wear Red Day intends to raise awareness and advocate for more research for women's heart health.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S., according to the American Heart Association. It claims the life of one woman every 80 seconds and more women each year than all forms of cancer combined.

Cardiologists say if caught early, more than 80 percent of cardiovascular disease may be prevent, but the key is understanding your family health history, knowing your numbers and making lifestyle changes.

Cincy Chic will host Lady in Red from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Kenwood Town Center Macy's store to raise money for the American Heart Association. There will be a fashion show, photo booth, drinks, light bites and a 20 percent storewide discount during the event.
