MASON, Ohio -- A small wood-shop fire forced Mason High School students and staff to evacuate the building Tuesday afternoon, according to Mason City Schools spokeswoman Tracey Carson.

Students and staff noticed the fire, which started inside a dust collector in the wood shop, at noon and subsequently evacuated to the football stadium.

No one was injured, and the building’s sprinklers worked as intended, Carson said.

Students were dismissed shortly after the evacuation, and all evening school activities were canceled.

Fire marshals later confirmed students would be safe to re-enter the building and pick up their left-behind school supplies Tuesday evening.
