DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 65-year-old man Monday stood charged with over 20 crimes, many of them felonies, related to sexual enticement of children in Deerfield Township.

Partosh Kumar’s 24 charges, which were accrued throughout the month of July, include criminal child enticement, public indecency, gross sexual imposition, attempted gross sexual imposition and importuning, or solicitation of a minor, according to an indictment from the Warren County Jail.

A mother in Deerfield Township, who asked that her name not be used, said her three daughters ran into Kumar outside of their home at Stone Bridge Apartments earlier in July.

“My 10-year-old came running to me with all my girls and said that there was a guy that told her she had a nice butt, nice boobs and asked what apartment she lives in,” she said.

She never called police about the incident, but on July 15, Warren County deputies responded to a report of a man attempting to have sexual contact with a group of children. They received another call about the same man the following day — this time, the parent said that sexual contact had occurred, and Kumar was taken into custody.

“He’s very brazen and confident enough to approach a group of children and attempt to lure them into these acts,” said Lieutenant John Faine of the Warren County Sheriff’s office.

The mother said her neighborhood had changed dramatically over the course of the month. Now, she said, parents won’t allow their children to go outside.

“I just think it’s sick,” she said.

Police said Kumar lives in India, but was staying with relatives in July. He was supposed to return home Aug. 2.

The sheriff’s office requested that any families who believe their children were approached by Kumar contact police as soon as possible.
