BLANCHESTER, Ohio — A Blanchester man crashed his car Sunday afternoon attempting to flee from police who suspected him of raping a child under five years of age.
By Monday, when a felony rape charge was officially filed against him, 29-year-old Steven Broughton had been involuntarily admitted to Clermont Mercy Hospital as a psychiatric patient. He was arrested upon his release Tuesday afternoon.
Broughton has already been convicted of one sex crime involving minors.
In 2009, according to the Ohio Attorney General’s sex offender registry, Broughton was found guilty of creating child pornography.
