WARREN COUNTY, Ohio — One person was killed and a firefighter injured in a house fire in Maineville Friday evening.

Fire crews from Deerfield Township were dispatched to a home at 8409 Davis Rd. around 8:45 p.m. for reports of a fire. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames coming out of the home and reports of a person trapped inside.

Doug Wehmeyer, deputy chief of the Deerfield Township Fire Rescue Department, said downed electrical wires outside of the property caused issues early on during the fire. Firefighters were able to make entry to the house where they found a man dead inside. Wehmeyer said "hording conditions" in the house made it difficult for crews to navigate.

"Every room was about 75% full," Wehmeyer said.

Wehmeyer said one firefighter was transported to a local hospital for a knee injury and has since been released.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by the Warren County Sheriff's office and the Deerfield Township Fire Department.
