CINCINNATI — A man is dead after a Saturday night shooting in Walnut Hills, the Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) said.
The victim, identified as 40-year-old Jason Lamar Bennett, was shot at approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of Gilbert Avenue. He was transported to UC Medical Center by the Cincinnati Fire Department, where he died from his injuries, CPD said.
CPD officers at the scene of the shooting Saturday said a man turned himself in to officers on Dana Avenue shortly after the shooting.
John Smith, 58, has been charged with reckless homicide in connection with Bennett's death, CPD said. Police have not confirmed whether Smith is the man who turned himself in on Saturday night.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at 513-352-3542.
Correction: An earlier version of this story erroneously reported the neighborhood, and that the victim had turned themselves in. We regret the errors.
