TAYLOR MILL, Ky. — State transportation officials announced the city of Taylor Mill will receive $30,000 to repair a slide along Mason Road.

The hillside on Mason Road, south of Wilson Road, started to slide in the spring, according to City Administrative Officer Brian Haney. The slide is weather-related.

Although the work will be completed by the city, the money was provided through Municipal Road Aid emergency funds, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 6.

“The Bevin administration is committed to the Cabinet’s mission of providing a safe, reliable transportation network for all Kentuckians,” said Transportation Secretary Greg Thomas in a written statement. “These emergency funds will help local governments repair and restore damaged infrastructure throughout their communities.”

Haney said the city must hire a contractor before repairs begin. Since repairs are to the hillside, Haney said he expects one lane to stay open to traffic.
