NORWOOD, Ohio -- The walls of Listermann Brewing Co. are covered in bright splashes of graffiti thanks to a University of Cincinnati student.

Now, the brewery is giving back to artist Jeremy Griffin so he can continue his education.

General Manager Jason Brewer said Listermann is giving 10 percent of its sales from three hip-hop inspired beers to Elementz, an urban art center for inner-city youth.

“‘Young people are the future,’ everyone says it, but you know it’s time to actually start doing stuff about that,” Brewer said.

Listermann’s hip-hop beers are a nod to greats like Biggie Smalls and 2Pac. Appropriately, Brewer says the beers are very heavy on a hop called El Dorado.

Griffin said his art is about much more than spreading a positive message about graffiti. He said he plans to finish school so he can help other kids learn about art and the power of expression.

"Once I learn all there is to know, then its like I have to give back and teach and become an example for the young kids around here,” Griffin said.

Listermann partnered with Elementz in November 2017 to give teen artists the chance to showcase their talents. Griffin’s edgy designs change from season to season.
