MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio -- Three suspects are on the run after firing shots at a Mount Healthy home Wednesday evening, according to police, and the incident has set neighbors on edge.

“Even in your house it’s not safe,” said Victoria Nelson, who lives on Clovernook Avenue. “Because bullets don’t have eyes."

Witnesses to the shooting told police that four men with firearms exited a white car that had pulled into the lot at 7688 Clovernook Ave around 5:39 p.m. The apparent target of the shooting, a woman who had been playing in front of her home with her five children, “gathered her children very quickly, rushed inside the house and closed the door behind her," said Sgt. Greg Nolte.

The men then fired into the townhouse, according to a news release from Mount Healthy Police Chief Vincent L. Demasi. No injuries were reported.

The police report on the incident says witnesses saw a 17-year-old suspect running north on Clovernook Avenue toward Adams Road after the shooting. Springfield Township police stopped that suspect near the corner of Meredith and Bluegate drives, and a K-9 discovered a firearm within feet of where he had been detained.

No description is available for the remaining three suspects.

According to both Nolte and Nelson, this is not the first such incident on Clovernook Avenue this year.

“It’s horrible,” Nelson said. “People need God, honestly. They need to pray."

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be filed. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
