Here's how and when you can pay your respects to Colerain Officer Dale Woods

The Colerain Township Police Department invited the public to attend a series of services, processions and visitations in honor of Officer Dale Woods, who died Monday after being struck by a pickup three days earlier.

“The visitations and services are very solemn events and, on behalf of the Woods Family, we expect your continued courtesy and consideration in honoring these guidelines,” the department wrote in a Wednesday news release.

The schedule of events, which span from Saturday to Monday, is as follows:

Saturday

9:30 a.m.: A procession in Woods’ honor will set off from Spring Grove Funeral Homes, proceeding to the Colerain Police Department and then to Colerain High School.

10 a.m.: Public invited to line the procession route, which will proceed eastbound on Spring Grove Avenue to northbound Winton Road to westbound West Galbraith Road, continuing to northbound Colerain Avenue, westbound Springdale Road and end at the Poole Road entrance to the school.

11:45 a.m.: Public may begin parking at Colerain High School.

Noon - 4 p.m.: Public visitation in the Colerain High School gymnasium. Visitors should enter through the Cheviot Road entrance. No media will be present; visitors are not permitted to bring food or drink or to be in any other part of the school.

Sunday

All day: A private visitation for family, friends, Colerain Township employees and fellow law enforcement officers at Spring Grove Funeral Homes.

8 p.m.: A Fraternal Order of Police service in Woods’ memory.

Monday

Noon: Woods’ remains will be transported in a procession from Spring Grove Funeral Homes to Cintas Center, where a public funeral service will be held.

After the service: Woods’ remains will be returned to the Spring Grove Cemetery, where family, friends and colleagues will hold a private ceremony in the cemetery’s rose garden.

In addition to the services, Spring Grove Funeral Homes invited residents to sign a register book that will be sent to the Woods family. Anyone wishing to leave a message and pay tribute to Woods can sign a register book now through 5 p.m. on Jan. 14 at any of the following funeral home locations:

  • Main location at 4389 Spring Grove Ave.
  • Spring Grove Funeral Homes Tri-County at 11285 Princeton Pike
  • Spring Grove Funeral Homes Elden Good at 2620 Erie Ave.
  • Thompson, Hall and Jordan Funeral Home at 11400 Winton Road
