CINCINNATI — A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the crash that killed 65-year-old Gail Duncan on Christmas Eve, according to court documents.

The Cincinnati Police Department said Sherry Smith, 39, lost control of her vehicle near 4411 Glenway Avenue around 7 a.m. on Dec. 24 when she crossed the center line and struck another vehicle. Duncan was a passenger in the vehicle that was hit.

She was seriously injured in the crash and first responders transported her to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, but she died from her injuries there.

Police initially said they believed impairment and excessive speed could have contributed to the crash.

Smith is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, one count of aggravated vehicular assault and one count of vehicular assault. She is currently being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center on a bond of $100,000, according to court records.
