WCPO aired a special tribute Monday night to celebrate the life of Wanda Lewis, a Cincinnati TV pioneer who flew into our hearts as Captain Windy from “The Uncle Al Show."

For 37 years, she and her husband, Al Lewis (Uncle Al), entertained and informed children in Greater Cincinnati. Lewis died last month at the age of 94.

The special tribute show is an edited version of an original episode of “Uncle Al Town” which first aired July 29, 1984 on WCPO.

Introduced by WCPO 9 Anchor Tanya O’Rourke, the tribute includes current and former WCPO 9 employees and guests on the show. It’s a look back at how the show impacted generations of Cincinnati’s kids and a tribute to the life and work of Wanda Lewis and the “Uncle Al Show” crew.
