CINCINNATI -- Police are investigating a shooting at an Oakley apartment complex, according to Lt. Steve Saunders.

A suspect shot a man in the abdomen at Heritage at Oakley Square Apartments at 4382 Marburg Avenue, Saunders said. First responders transported the man to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with injuries that are life-threatening.

Police are looking for a black Lexus 250 that left the scene. The car is believed to be a model from 2009 or later.

Capt. Aaron Jones said multiple people called police reporting an active shooter situation, but that was not the case.

Jones said he thinks the reports stemmed from the mass shooting on Sunday in Dayton, Ohiothat left nine people dead.

"Here in America, the United States, this is something we're dealing with,” Jones said. “It's near and dear to our hearts, just north in Dayton. Having to go through these tragedies as well, I think it's on everybody's minds and I think they hear a gunshot or something like they heard today, it's the first thing that they’re thinking of.”
