CINCINNATI -- Ten ball pythons were inside an aquarium that caught fire in a Mount Airy apartment on Monday morning, according to fire officials and police.
Cincinnati police officer Calvin Mathis said a neighbor called firefighters after smelling smoke coming from the apartment on Chesterfield Court.

The SPCA arrived at the apartment, but the snakes were not removed.
The apartment owner said the complex has a no pet policy and the snakes -- and their owner -- will have to leave.
The SPCA left a notice on the apartment owner's door. There is no damage to other units. @WCPO

The apartment only suffered smoke damage with some soot in nearby apartments, fire officials said.
