CINCINNATI — Repair work on the broken water main along Riverside Drive in East End could take anywhere from two to three months to complete, officials with Greater Cincinnati Water Works said Tuesday afternoon.

"The break is on a critical water transmission line for the system and is located on a portion of the main that is very deep (about 12 feet)," a news release indicated.

The 60-inch water main -- one of GCWW's largest -- broke Saturday, prompting Cincinnati police to close Riverside Drive to all traffic between Collins and Delta avenues, and the road has remained closed since. Roads in the immediate area will remain closed "until further notice."

The news release indicated Cincinnati police and GCWW will provide daily updates by 3 p.m., also until further notice, as the repair work continues.
