CINCINNATI — The Monday afternoon arrival of police officers at St. Leger Apartments sent a pair of teenage boys bolting through the parking lot and down the street, police Capt. Aaron Jones said in a news conference.

Gunshots sounded as the officers chased them.

No one was struck, and Jones admitted the exact sequence of events was difficult to determine. However, Jones said police believe one of the boys had fired back in the direction of the pursuing officers.

The gun was recovered. The two teenage suspects were not, although police spent two hours canvassing the area with K9 units and a helicopter from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office before calling off the search.

According to Jones, the officers had come to St. Leger around 4 p.m. after a report of disorderly conduct connected to a dice game in the parking lot. The two boys spotted them and ran.

Jones said the teens were last seen running behind a Dixmont Avenue home. Anyone with information about the incident should contact police.
