CINCINNATI -- West Chester Township-based Slim Furniture, once a Cincy Pop Shop vendor, is excited to commemorate the opening of its new retail location located at 816 Main St. in downtown Cincinnati with a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception at 11 a.m. Friday.

Slim offers portable, modular furniture that is constructed and deconstructed easily without the use of tools. They say their goal is to help people live the life they want to live and to help them achieve a space that is as individual as they are. After the Cincy Pop Shop program ended in summer 2017, partners Michael Blair, Daniel Cooley and Woodrow Plunkett decided to look for a permanent storefront.

“We are really excited to be opening our permanent location, which will be a model for all of our other stores,” said Plunkett, Slim’s chief operating officer. “Growing up in Pleasant Ridge, I would always get excited to go Downtown with my parents, so being part of the effort to revitalize Main Street is close to my heart.”

Slim makes both indoor and outdoor furniture and is available online and at select locations. Since opening in 2015, Slim Furniture has been the official furniture sponsor of the Xavier Musketeers, Western & Southern Open, Cincinnati Comic Expo, Indiana Home & Garden Show, Wizard World (New Orleans), and LexPlay: Lexington Gaming Convention.

“To have one of our Pop Shop vendors make the leap to permanent merchant is a huge for Downtown,” said Andrew Naab, retail specialist with Downtown Cincinnati Inc. “It is a great endorsement for the Pop Shop program and for downtown as destination for one-of-a-kind retail.”

The Downtown Cincy Pop Shop program was created in partnership with the City's Downtown Retail Action Plan, an innovative series of strategies to create a lively retail environment that caters to residents and visitors alike. Cincy Pop Shop seeks to catalyze retail offerings that appeal to the diversity of the Cincinnati market by providing small and unique business opportunities.
