CINCINNATI -- An 8-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Avondale Monday night.
The collision occurred on Greenwood Avenue at about 6:35 p.m., according to police Lt. Steve Saunders. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, he said.
Speed or impairment were not believed to be factors, according to police. They said the boy was visiting a cousin at a nearby home and ran out into the street from between two parked cars. He was not in a crosswalk.
The boy is currently being treated at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Police are not charging the driver with a crime at this time, they said. The case will be handed over to the prosecutor's office.
